In the spring of 2009, the mayor of a small historic town in Northern France, Marie Francoise Gaouyer, reportedly considered changing the name of the town in order to improve the town’s findability in search engines. The town’s historic name Eu suffered from conflicts with the European Union moniker “EU”.
